2 weeks post Delirium & 3 weeks until SC 24 Hour Track Race.
Took 2 days off after Delirium, muscles are healing up very quickly, hardly any pain. My toe is still blistered, sore and the nail is bruised and in the process of coming off.
I am very shocked how well recovery is going, after almost 80 miles in mud.
By a week post Delirium I was fine, toe bruised and nail half way off, clipped what I could but isn't a bothersome any more.
I decided early this week I would jump into a 10k, Cookies 10k in Berwick. Course is hilly, it was windy and I honestly didn't think I could even pull off 42 minutes because I was still in recovery stages and haven't done much of speed work since before Delirium.
Beginning the 10k I told myself it's only 6.2 miles, that's it! I think from running so many long distances that my mind was stronger than my body and that kept me pushing up those hills.
I ended up 4th female and 39:45, which is a 2 minute PR for me. I was happy because 3 weeks ago I ran a 5k PR, 19:32 on a hilly course, so I definitely know I have strength in me. Especially 2 weeks post Delirium.
I registered for the Caumsett 50k Championship on March 15, starting to look forward to that. I think I could go sub 4 hours in a 50k right now, but the course is rolling hills, I'm hoping my strength I'm starting to find with hills is with me during this race.
My plan for pacing, is to race the marathon point, sub 3:10 and do what I can and hold on for another 5 miles.
So awesome! The range you have in distance is impressive!
