30 Days!

Took 2 days off after Delirium, muscles are healing up very quickly, hardly any pain. My toe is still blistered, sore and the nail is bruised and in the process of coming off.

I am very shocked how well recovery is going, after almost 80 miles in mud.

I have 30 days now to get ready for SC 24 Hour Track Race. Which is in Florence SC on March 15. I wasn't 100% sure I would be able to run this, but seeing how well and fast I'm recovering physically and thinking more clearly after Delirium is over. Going to use Delirium as my last LONG training run.

I've asked the best ultra runners I know their opinions on what I should do over the next few weeks leading into this 24 hour event, and I'm going to use their advice mixed in with what I learned during Delirium.

I ran beautiful, relaxed, and comfortable, I honestly felt amazing out there for 75+ miles. I did hit the wall about 4 times but I easily got my shit together and found positive thoughts, a good upbeat song, a hotdog, and even facetimed my parents so I could see my dogs at mile 65.

I learned I need to make sure I wear Hokas the entire 24 hours, changing them at mile 46 caused foot pain later in my miles, buying a second spare pair ASAP!

I also will be practicing on anti blistering methods, socks and other things but I also think the 24 event on the track with no mudd will help with blisters.

Mentally, I know you hit 70+ miles everything you care about at once seems to disappear and all you care about is just eating, sleeping and not running. I think I am mentally tough to a certain point, but this will be my biggest part I need to work on.

I have the speed, I have the endurance, I need to fix my feet issues and find determination. Goal for March 15, 120+ miles on a 400m track. Let the training begin.

Worlds End Ultra 50k

If you don't look off to the sides, bears aren't there.  If you don't focus so much on the trail infront of you, you don't see snakes...  Maybe that noise I just heard was just some other runner falling into rubbish or maybe it's a bear? Well no bear and no snakes sights during this event, which is a win in my eyes!  World's End Ultra Marathon.   Location: Worlds End State Park, Pennsylvania  Distance: 50k Elevation gain: 6200+ft Course conditions: Wet, Mud Nutrition: 2 liters water, 4 oz coke. Looking back at all the ultra marathons I have ran (over 30 finishes) closer to over 40 If you want to count the few DNFs and a few distance switches. Besides the point, out of 30+ ultras I have ran, Worlds End is the toughest, most challenging course I have come across for the 50k distance, and to make the race even more brutal, we ran it in a heat wave. Rewind to 2 weeks prior. I got an email that my name was selected off the waitlist to be a participant. I

MIA

I ALMOST completely erased my entire "One Run Closer" blog that I started back in early 2014, reading through all my past training, race goals and race recaps left me realizing how much I changed since I found this sport.  I decided to leave my blog be, after all in some moment of time what I wrote meant something significant to me. Even though so much has changed, I changed, it may be all those instances, all those injuries, all those jabs in life that made me who I am today. Moving forward, and looking to find something that will give me significance and a reason to feel the fire again and also keep me accountable and most importantly find mindfulness and joy in life and running again. I feel that I should go into depth of where I am coming from to explain why I am here. 8 years ago or more I was once wrote about being one of the best female ultra runners on the East Coast. Still to this day I never thought that as being true. Yes, I won ultras, claimed and brok
